Guided by our passionate and highly train tutors, this programme will teach you the essential skills needed to kickstart your career in the makeup industry. From basic beauty concepts, to product knowledge and consultation skills, students can be assured all bases will be covered in this 20-week foundation course.

To ensure our students are equipped and exposed to the latest and best quality products, we use MAC Cosmetics to provide student kits, seasonal demos and workshops.

COURSE CONTENT - Application of basic beauty concepts for commercial salon use, Knowledge of tools, equipment and safe operating procedures, Knowledge of face and skin type structure and functions, Customer service, communication and consultation, Sales and product knowledge, Skin conditions and indications for these, Makeup and design theory, Performing skin care services, Performing make up services (special occasion, current looks and techniques, foundation special effects and paint work) & Photoshoots, CV’s and portfolio creation.

Servilles Academy was established in 1993 by Paul Serville (Founder and Director) who has over 50 years of experience in the industry. The academy was created with the intention of training the next generation of Hairdressers in New Zealand. The courses available at Servilles Academy are all NZQA approved qualifications, consisting of; Hairdressing (Level 3 and Level 4 certificates), Barbering (Level 3 certificate) and Makeup (Level 3 and Level 4 certificates). All of our courses are taught by our highly trained and passionate tutoring team, who each bring their own industry experiences and creative flare.

In addition to in-class learning, our students are also given the chance to partake in high-profile and diverse external opportunities, to give them a taste of work in the real world. Opportunities include; New Zealand Fashion Week, television programmes, live performances, runway shows and music videos for internationally renowned artists.
