About the course

This qualification is designed for people working in a range of management functions in a recreation or sport context with a variety of client groups. It includes standards that will cover managing existing business operations or new initiatives, facilitating or delivering recreation or sport activities, and providing leadership and guidance to others.

The compulsory section contains standards which cover managing a project, and leading a team to achieve objectives.

Elective 1 allows people to select from standards that relate to managing either a recreation or sport event, a series of programmes or a community development initiative.

In Elective 2 people can select relevant standards from the Recreation and Sports subfield. They can then choose the balance of credits from a range of standards depending on the specific work context; these include business management, marketing, environmental management practices, implementing health and safety plans, participating in a formal meeting, managing interpersonal conflict, proposal writing.

This qualification builds on the National Certificate in Recreation and Sport (Level 3) [Ref: 1711] and leads to the National Diploma in Community Recreation (Facility Management) (Level 5) [Ref: 1251].

To provide learning and employment related opportunities, experiences, systems and expectations through which all learners are equipped with the necessary learning, life and personal skills to either advance into long term sustainable employment (not exclusively in the Recreation and Sport Industry) or further tertiary studies to support chosen career pathways while achieving a recognized qualification by the end of the study period while also supporting them to further developing their rugby, strength and conditioning, nutrition and personal well-being.
