The Wellington region is the at the southernmost part of the North Island and encompasses New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, and other urban centres including Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua and Masterton. The region is, by a large margin, the wealthiest in the country. The city of Wellington has a very service focused economy with a focus in finance, business, government and a growing IT industry. The greater region, particularly out towards Martinborough is famous for its viticulture scene.
